Joining them this time in their adventures will be:
The ice age critters are having a ball in their new world full of tar pits and geysers. However, a flood is coming and the only thing that keeps the flood from destroying the valley are the melting glaciers. But as soon as a vulture tells them an ark can lead them to safety, the animals are off in a flash.
Meanwhile, Manny is depressed that he might be the last mammoth alive. While Diego tries to help Manny get over it, Sid taunts him. However, while Manny is alone, Diego and Sid follow two annoying opossums who lead them to a female mammoth, Ellie. Manny shows up when they make this discovery. Manny and Ellie could start a new family. However, Ellie thinks she is an opossum. It takes time to convince her she is a mammoth.
Along the way, they find out Diego is afraid of water; Cretaceous and Maelstrom, two dangerous sea reptiles from the Mesozoic, plan to eat the critters in the meltdown; Scrat tries to stop the meltdown; and everybody learns that surviving together is an option, but surviving the meltdown is a must!
Later there turn out to be many more mammoths; however, after some hesitation Manny and Ellie choose for each other anyway.
Manny (referring to Ellie): Hey, you think she's the girl for me?
Sid: Oh yeah. She's tons of fun, and you're no fun at all. She... completes you. ---
The following three are heard and seen during the international trailer:
Sid: We're going to live. (geyser shoots water without warning) We're going to die! ---
Sid: Maybe we could rapidly evolve into water creatures. Diego: That's nice, Sid.
Sid: Call me Squid. ---
Manfred: Uh, Diego, retract the claws please.
Diego: Oh.. right.. sorry.
Sid: You know, if I didn't know you better Diego, I'd think you were afriad of the water! [Diego grabs Sid's neck and strangles him]
Sid: OK, I don't think I know you better!
